Where it all started.

Throughout my career I have illustrated for advertising agencies and editorial projects. The photos in this section show me working as an illustrator in a series of different cities—Vancouver, Montreal,  Toronto and New York City. The top image was taken in 1973, my first commercial art position at a Vancouver Design Studio. I was first hired to illustrate color City Character maps for a series of Canadian and  of American cities. The job involved researching each city by visiting, photographing and making sketches and notes on location. I also worked as a photographer for a brief time and I still use the camera to document places and events that I want to make into paintings and other artworks. Currently my focus is on watercolor painting of urban landscapes, cityscapes, the beach, and flora and fauna.
